View from the awa
Our Project partners recently banded together for a kayak trip from Brown River Reserve to Totara Flat to view the catchment from the perspective of the awa. The group stopped along the way to note special features, share knowledge and learn more about the catchment from one another.
Some of these issues the awa is facing include the mobility of the river bed, its impacts following several significant flood events, riparian weeds, and the contrasts of the upper and lower riparian areas of the river. By learning more about the challenges and true nature of the river, we can work together to enhance it.
